Do It Yourself Fundraising!

Breathing together to fight lung disease

Each year, businesses, organizations and individuals host events that raise thousands of dollars for The Lung Association, Alberta & NWT.

Planning your own fundraising event can be simple. You could host a garage sale, organize a golf tournament, have a dinner with friends, hold a community charity run or even stage a benefit concert.

Whatever the occasion, you can help us fight lung disease by asking your friends to make a donation in lieu of gifts.

A few examples...

Edmonton, AB August 9th, 2016 – Vallen proudly supported the Alberta Lung Association with a charitable donation of $21,375.00 that was raised at their 3rd Annual Golf Invitational tournament.  The Alberta Lung Association was chosen in 2016 through Vallen’s employee nomination program to be the charity of choice, thank you to Leanne Kiernan for sharing her very touching story.  Thank you, as well to all their customers, vendors, sponsors, staff and volunteers for making this a success. Red Deer, AB September 25th, 2016 – A local volunteer committee hosted the Scott Subaru Powered By Breathing Fun! Walk/Run event at McKenzie Trails last fall. More than 125 participants and volunteers, enjoyed the sunny autumn morning raising awareness for the thousands of Central Albertans and their families who live with lung health issues. They raised just over $13,000 and hope to raise more in 2017 as the event grows. Click to see photo.

Tofield, AB July 1st, 2016 marked the 20th anniversary that the Tofield Volunteer Fire Department Society has been hosting events and raising money for the Alberta Lung Association.   We are honored to have the support of such a great team of people whom dedicate their services selflessly to serve the community in which they live.  Thank you for bringing your community together to help so many Albertans live a better life, one breath at a time. The support over the past 20 years now totals over an outstanding $25,000! We truly appreciate how these local firefighter heroes dedicate service to their community every day and still take the time and effort to touch innumerable hearts by helping save the lives of those suffering from lung disease. For this, The Lung Association is truly grateful. Click to see photo.

The Lung Association, Alberta & NWT salutes their efforts as roughly 600,000 Albertans are living with lung disease. One in every five Canadians have lung disease, yet we underestimate the burden of lung disease on the collective health and well-being of our nation. Three major chronic lung diseases — lung cancer, asthma, and COPD — cost Canada’s economy $12 billion in 2010, according to The Conference Board of Canada.

The need for change starts now, and with your help this summer and fall, you will help The Lung Association get one step closer to creating a world free of lung disease.
