Tobacco use is the leading cause of preventable death and illness in Alberta.
The Lung Association, Alberta & NWT (TLA) is committed to helping prevent tobacco use, particularly among our youth, as well as supporting individuals in their efforts to quit smoking. We are pleased to offer two progams designed to help:
Tobacco products are geared towards creating and maintaining dependence. Cigarettes contain 4000 pharmacologically active, toxic, mutagenic, and carcinogenic substances, 50 of which are known to cause cancer.
