Welcome to BLAST!
BLAST stands for Building Leadership for Action in Schools Today!
Since 1996 the BLAST program has used interactive and engaging methods to challenge Alberta youth in Grades 7-9 to think critically about the tobacco industry and its products, as well as the social, global and health effects of tobacco use.
Today, BLAST continues to offer many opportunities for students and teachers to become actively involved in tobacco education. From FREE half-day, in-school Mini-BLAST workshops and teacher professional development opportunities, to a FREE 2.5 day tobacco awareness conference in the fall, participants are trained in building school and community leadership skills while developing project planning and advocacy techniques.
Book NOW for the 2012-2013 school year! Spots are filling up quickly!
Not only that, but Youth Action Grants are available! Invite us to present a FREE Mini-BLAST Workshop at your school and/or attend our BLAST Conference. These funds can be used to help meet your school’s tobacco education goals!
Chances are if you have come to our website, you share our passion for leading a healthy lifestyle through tobacco prevention, and you would like your school, community, friends and family to do the same. We look forward to working together with you in reducing tobacco use across Alberta.
